Unable to connect to database

Postby Adduria » Sun Jul 26, 2026 4:39 pm

Hello

I installed the KMS Auto program on my computer to activate Open Office on my computer, but after that, Poker Tracker 4 stopped working and started saying that there was no connection to the server. Additionally, the clash-verge (VPN) program stopped working for some reason. I thought that something might have been installed that was blocking the connection to the remote servers for vpn and PostgreSQL.

I removed the KMS Auto program from my computer, after first removing all the utilities and keys that were previously installed through KMS Auto using the KMSCleaner program (I may have missed something, and I'll explain why later).
After removing KMS Auto, PT4 still didn't work and gave an error about connecting to the database, but the VPN program started working. I completely removed PostgreSQL and PT4, installed a new PostgreSQL 12, and then reinstalled PT4. However, it still didn't work.

I checked through services.msc if PostgreSQL was running, and I saw that it wasn't starting automatically. I started it manually, and it worked. I was able to create a new database because I couldn't connect to the old one. In the new database, I tried to perform a Restore, as I had previously backed up the database. However, after clicking the Restore button, PT4 asked me to provide the psql.exe file, which it couldn't find even though it was in the folder. I selected it manually and the Restore started, but after 15 minutes, it again displayed a window asking me to specify the path to the psql.exe file. I specified it manually again, but the Restore stopped and displayed an error.

After that, I tried to manually import at least a part of the Hand History into the new database, for a short period, to see if the import was working at all, but PT4 froze, and after restarting PT4, it still wouldn't let me join the database, even though the PostgreSQL service was already running. Moreover, PT4 asked me to re-enter the license key to launch the program. Maybe it's possible that something on my computer is still blocking the connection to the servers and requiring me to enter the license key every time.

I also noticed that for some reason, some programs on my computer stopped launching automatically when Windows started, so this information might be helpful.

Please help me to fix it, no idea what to do with that.

KMS Auto is an activation-bypass tool that modifies Windows services, startup items, firewall rules, and registry entries. It is also frequently bundled with malware and removing it does not necessarily undo all the changes it made. I recommend running a full scan with a reputable anti-malware tool to ensure nothing malicious is on your system and then reinstalling anything that isn't working. If you have any further trouble with PokerTracker 4 after that please open a Support Ticket with your support bundle and a link to this thread where a technician can assist you directly:

I tried everything, but nothing worked, so I decided to uninstall Windows.

After installing a new Windows, I installed postgre 16 and the program itself using pokertracker.exe, but I couldn't restore the old database in the new database, and it gave me an error. I had to create a new database and import my hands manually over a period of 3 years, and the import went well. I also imported all the custom stats, and after importing, I performed a full Housekeeping: Tune PostgreSQL - Reindex - Cluster - Vacuum/Analyze.
Then I did a Full Cache Rebuild and a Custom Cache Rebuild. I restarted my windows.

After that, I tried to run the import of hands and the HUD, and it works. The HUD appears on the poker tables, but with a very long delay (after 10-15 hands), and there are no numbers in it. In the PT4 lobby itself, a window appears saying that the import of hands is very slow and recommending a full Hosekeeping, which I had already done earlier. I have completely repeated the entire Housekeeping and Full Cache Rebuild, but the problem of slow hand imports and normal HUD operation has not been resolved. It still displays a window about slow hand imports:

Can you tell me how to fix this problem?
Thank you in advance
