PT4 is broken.

Postby ScientistRUS » Sat Jul 26, 2025 11:10 am

My PC OS in Windows 11.

PT4 was working fine, and then PT4 stopped saving or showing my hands. PT4 also had what appeared to be two windows which I could not restore to one window only. I tried to reinstall by uninstalling (deleting both PostgreSQL and PT4). I reinstalled and now PT4 wants to connect to PostgreSQL localhost but I get an error message which says I may firewall stopping the process. I DO NOT have any firewall configured or running.

Please advise.
Thank you in advance,

What happened when you reinstalled PostgreSQL? Did it say it installed successfully or not? What version did you install? Was it the same version as what was being used before you uninstalled things? What port and password were used for the PostgreSQL install and are they the same as the port and password PokerTracker 4 is using? Click your Windows Start button then type the following command:

services.msc

and click on it when it appears. Do you see the PostgreSQL service in the list? Is it started, or can you start it? What is its 'Status' and 'Startup Type'?

Here are the error pop-up messages I get:

Unable to log in database (postgre) Reason: Connection to server at "localhost (::1). Port 5434 failed: Connection refused (0x00002744/10061) Is the server running on that host and accepting TCP/IP connections? connection to server "localhost" (127.0.0.1.). port 5434 failed: Connection refused (0x000027D/10061) Is the server running on that host and accepting TCP/IP connections?

----------------------------2nd error message pop-up--------------------------------------------

[Server: localhost] [Database User: postgre]
[Port: 5432] [Password: dbpass]

I hope this helps and thank you very much

The port in your first pop-up (5434) does not match the port in PokerTracker 4 (5432) so try port 5434. If you need further assistance please provide the answers to the questions I asked in my original reply and provide the PostgreSQL details from your Windows services.
