PTv2 DB Import Issue?

Postby a_good_year » Fri Mar 21, 2008 4:14 pm

I am getting this message sporadically while importing my hands:
"Unable to open database to store the observed hand histories. 101 - SQLSTATE = 08001
server closed the connection unexpectedly
This probably means the server terminated abnormally
before or while processing the request.
..."

Importing would work fine and then once in a while the above message pops up. Usually the 2nd import try works and then 3-5 minutes later, the above message pops up again and then works, .. .. ..

I installed Spy Doctor yesterday b/c I got spyware on my laptop. I also installed Vista service pack 1 today.

Please help

That error means that the PostgreSQL service is shutdown for some reason.

I take it you are importing your own hands and observed hands into different databases?
Is the db your own hands are going into a PostgreSQL db also? Does it ever give you errors when importing just your own hands?

Yes. I have two dbs. One for hands I play and another for observed hands.

hmmm.. I just checked to ensure that both dbs are open and noticed that my observed hands one was not. I never close my dbs, so I don't know how that happened. Is that why I am getting the message? If I continue to get it I will follow up with a message here, but I think by opening it it should fix it right?

The observed hands database doesn't need to be open for it to work.

Please don't post anymore replies here, I'll respond to your other post.
