some issues

Hi

1. When I convert a database to SQL can I delete the access database?
2. When i make a backup can i delete the original database?for what is a backup for? i realized they are pretty the same size...
3. I have about 7 databases, 5 of them are really small and i would like to have them all in one. the best way is to export all the files and then import them to the new database?
4. If i have 3 hhdb.mdb files can i make it to only 1?

1. You need to remove the entry on the File > Maintain Database Names window associated with the Access db's. Then you have to delete the *.mdb file associated with those entries, PT won't delete the files.

2. I don't understand what you mean here. The PostgreSQL backup files are to be used in case you have PC issues so you should regularly backup your databases using the Utilities > PostgreSQL Database Functions window. If you mean can you delete the older .backup files then yes, I guess you could do that, I would hang on to the last 2 backups though just to be safe.

3. Yes, use the Utilities > Export Hand Histories To File option to export them from one db and then use those files to import into the db you want them to go into.

4. You only need one. You can remove them all and download this empty file if you want...

1. So when the SQL database is converted, the access one is useless, isn´t it?
2. mm i just dont know what is a backup for. Ex: I have ptrack.mdb and ptrack_backup.mdb. Dont understand what is the difference between them
4. Ex: I have 3 hhdb.mdb files, each 200Mb, how do i create only one of 600mb?

1. Yes, that's why I said you could remove them.
2. You meant the backup Access database files, you can remove them too.
4. You don't have 3 files named hhdb.mdb you have files called hhdb1.mdb, hhdb2.mdb correct. As I said, you can remove all of these and download that empty, much smaller hhdb.mdb file into the PT folder.

You should not remove any of these files while PT is open, make sure it's closed when you do this.

yup they are not hhdb. but if i remove them and replace it with the empty one, wont I delete important data of the hands??

Those files shouldn't be needed anymore because all the data is in PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL stores the hand histories, there aren't 2 separate databases like there are for Access.

A backup is just a safety net - it's a copy of your database, so that if the active database gets corrupted or lost for some reason then you can revert to your backup copy and you will only lose any hands imported since you made the backup. It is sensible to make a backup pretty often, and to keep a copy of it somewhere off your main PC if you can.
