Updating database cache for 25 min + no new hands displayed

Since converting to a postgres SQL DB this updating takes a lot longer and the only stats displayed if im playing are that from prior sessions , hands being recorded are not being displayed as stats while this updating is going on. Prior to the conversion the updating took 1/5th the time and stats were being displayed as normal.

It seems to go through this update almost every 2nd time I open PAhud.

A 25 minute wait , unable to play if I want real time stats from players i havent encountered before .. it's becoming quite annoying.

MY DB consists of approx 12k turbo sng's.

Thanks.

If you uncheck "use database cache" from the PAHUD Options menu (click on Databases on the left), you should be able to use PAHUD without any significant delay with no cache involved.

I'll give it a try and see if there's any performance differences.

Disabling the cache pretty much rendered PAHUD useless , finished off a 13 table sng session , no stats displayed on 85% of my tourneys even by the time they finished .

All the tables were displayed and checked in PAHUD but no stats , and the few stats displayed on the tables that were working , were only those from prev sessions.

In that case, re-enable the using of the cache, and once it's been updated, click Options --> Preferences, click on Databases on the left and uncheck "Automatically Update Cache". That will disable PAHUD checking and updating the cache for you; you'll need to update it manually from time to time but it should work after that.

In the future for similair issues you might want to suggest the manual update 1st , my day of grinding seems to have come to a halt , waiting for the DB cache to be recreated . Hitting the 3hr mark and it's still not done .

I would suggest doing a manual update of the cache at the end of your session rather than the start, or if you take a break for long enough in the middle of the day - I always found the auto-update at startup option to make things too slow too.
It sounds like you've added databases before, but just to check - you have added the new database to your PAH config, haven't you? Options > Preferences > Databases > Holdem.

Yeah , switched to the postgres DB after converting . When PAHUD was updating the cache automatically , it would take about 25 minutes , every 2nd time i opened it.

If I update manually after each session should that time be reduced a lot ?

What difference is there if I update the cache after each session vs just twice a day or once at the end of the day ? How does that impact performance or display of stats ?

Starting the cache update manually doesn't make any difference to the time - it just means that it's not being done while you play which will make it a bit quicker but primarily just won't slow things down while you play.

Doing the update at the end of the day will mean that when you start playing the next day/session the cache will be up to date. The hands you import during each session won't affect performance noticably - it takes quite a lot of hands before you'll notice a difference but updating the cache daily will mean the updates are pretty quick.
