PAH problem --> building cache

Postby jekki » Fri Mar 27, 2009 5:32 pm

Hi everybody,
my OS is WinXP pro, and unfortunately i had to reinstall it.
After that i reinstalled the poker tools as well: postgres (v. 8.3.5) + PT 2 (v. 2.17.03d)+ PAH (v. 1.19.10 ß)
Seemingly everything works fine (i.e. on the table displayed what needed etc.) BUT,if i try to make the PAH-cache i get this message:

What is the problem?

Thank in advance.

Best regards!

PAHud does not fully support postgres 8.3.5 and the cache will not work.
You currently have two options:
1. Revert back to PostgreSQL 8.2.9 (latest 8.2.x version) which is supported
2. Temporarily disable your database cache until we are able to get 8.3.x supported. Options->Preferences->Databases, uncheck 'Use Database Cache'.

Thank you for your answer.

1. Does "revert back" mean, that i have to fully deinstall v.8.3.5 and install v. 8.2.9 or can i install simply v.8.2.9 now?
2. How long do you think it takes PAH would work with v. 8.3.5?

thx & greetz

If your database is 8.3 then you will need to back it up and then restore it into 8.3 (using PT2), but you do not need to uninstall 8.3.
I wouldn't expect the PAH cache to support 8.3 any time soon - now that PT3 is out I don't expect any major new functionality changes in PAH.

I see...
Still another question:

You have talked about "PostgreSQL 8.2.9 (latest 8.2.x version) which is supported", but there is a later release v. 8.2.13.
May i install this version or PAH supports v.8.2.9 only?

thx

8.2.9 was the latest at the time that was originally written - I should update my info.
TBH I don't know whether 8.2.13 will work, but I would assume so since the major version hasn't changed. I will try to find out whether this has been tested.

According to the development team any 8.2 version should be OK.
Please let us know if you have any problems with it.

First of all: i got it (PAH works with Postgres v. 8.2.13), but the price was not low...

I don't know where i made the mistake  , perhaps it is good to tell now the community, what i made...., so
1. i had postgres v. 8.3.5 and PAH couldn't make any cache (because of incompatibility)
2. i made a backup from 8.3 DBs for the future (earlier i had backups from 8.2 DBs already)
3. i deleted (dropped) the DBs in 8.3 via PGadmin, because i thought if not, and i install 8.2, how PT2 can make a difference at restore which DB is which
3. i install 8.2 with a different port# and username than 8.3 had
4. i made the new DB settings in PT2 ....

and then were coming the probs: the main problem was, that i couldn't remove the old DB settings in PT2. They always came back if i wanted to restore. In tried everything but nada...

So after that, i deinstall everything, and from the very beginning i install again: PT2, postgres v. 8.2.13 ---->> and PAH makes cache now... :)

best whishes
