Graphing VPIP, ROI by month and buyin level?

Postby JimmyM69 » Wed Aug 25, 2010 4:42 pm

I'd like to create a graph which would display the following:
On the X axis: Month/Year
On the Y axis: Percentages, showing, by buyin level in that month: VPIP, and ROI for each tourney played. (Different colours for VPIP & ROI, of course, and, if each line could be labelled somewhere, that would make my cup to runneth over :D )
I realise that such a graph would have wide variances, so were it possible to develop trend lines for each item graphed, that would be even more terrific ;-).
Ideas, please?

The easiest way is to do as follow:

In the Holdem Tournament Player Statistics section create the following columns. These should have Group By checked.

date_played_month:
dateextract_month[datefix_fromutc[tourney_holdem_hand_player_statistics.date_played]]

date_played_year:
dateextract_year[datefix_fromutc[tourney_holdem_hand_player_statistics.date_played]]

Then create the stat MonthYear with Value Expression:
(date_played_year * 100) + date_played_month

Format expression:
format('{1} {2}', lookup_from_id(date_played_month, 'month'), format_number(date_played_year, 0, false, false))

And Format Summary expression:
format('{1} Month(s)', date_played_month)

Fill in the other bits as you like.

Add that stat to your report.

Then you can add VP$IP and that will group your stats by month.

You can then export the report using the four arrows icon at the top right and create a CSV. Open it in Excel. Add another column for ROI, create a second custom report in Holdem Tournament Tournaments that also groups by month and shows ROI. Add the data to your Excel sheet - then create the graph using Excel's built in graphing features (if you don't own Excel, OpenOffice.org Calc will work well and is free, also).
