Trouble with hand history converter

Postby JediMethod » Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:34 pm

in the hand formatted tab of a hand history, when i click on the icon to copy to clipboard for either 2p2 or plain text all i get is a bunch of asian characters but only when I paste it into skype. I just realized this when I was about to post an example of the output i was getting. So, clearly this is not a PT3 issue, but I'm posting to see if anybody might be aware of a quick fix. Tried searching and can't find anything.

Okay, once I paste into skype chat, this is what i get. I was able to paste there, and copy back back onto my clipboard. If i copy to clipboard in pt3 and post in a forum or notepad it comes out fine. Its really annoying and an inconvience for me to have to use a site like handconverter.com to convert the hand for me while grinding.

Again, this is not an issue with PT3 as far as I can tell, but if there is an obvious answer to my problem then any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We are setting the content-type correct but Skype is apparently ignoring it.

As a work-around you can paste the hand history into notepad and then copy and paste that into Skype chat.

ya thats what I've been doing but everybody in my study group has no problem getting it to work for them. Its annoying when 24 tabling and having to do so much copying and pasting just to get a formatted hh into the chat.

I'll see if I can find something in the skype support community. I'll post in here if I figure it out since maybe some others are having the same problem.

I still have the same problem OP has. Any news how to fix this issue (except for the notepad workaround)?

Not that I'm aware of, I'm afraid.

The thing is, if I load hand in PT3 I have three tabs: hand history, hand formatted, hand details. If I copy the text from hand history it does work, but as soon go to hand formatted and use the copy to clipboard function "copy to plain text format" I get these strange Asian characters. As fas as I known while playing on a table I only can copy hands via the copy to clipboard function. I know this rather a skype issue than a issue of PT3, but I'm pretty sure you guys would be able to fix it. (As far as I know Skype developers don't really care about their customers).
On the other hand and even better, you could think about developing something like this (at least for PT4): http://www.simonjwatt.com/software/home/skype
I think (although I might be wrong) the vast majority of PT users use Skype to communicate, so it would be awesome to be able to copy hands with suits. I'm sure a lot of PT users would love such a feature and it shouldn't be that hard to develop. Just a suggestion, but I hope you at least consider it.

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this Skype bug. We are copying the hand in the correct format and Skype is choosing to ignore that.

You probably knew this was coming, but how is it possible that copying/pasting PT4 HHs seem to work like a charm with Skype, when there was nothing you could've done about this "Skype bug" in PT3?

I know this behavior was caused by Skype, because some other (albeit very rare) programs produce the same chinese characters, when you have tried to copy/paste, but I also knew it would have been no big deal for you guys to fix it, because there was no such issue with 99% of all other programs I use (and it even worked with PT3 as long as you did the copy/paste from from the hand history tab in the hand information window).
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy it works now but I'm really curious, what you have done to make it happen.

I suspect it's likely due to the fact that PT4 is an entirely unicode program and PT3 was not - that affects language support and text encoding.
